Using POSIX to Maximize Code Portability in Embedded Systems

Join QNX Software Systems for a technical web seminar that examines using POSIX APIs in embedded systems development. Open Group Director Joe Bergmann will discuss the evolution of POSIX and new work. QNX Product Manager Steve Furr will review POSIX compliance in leading operating systems.

Programmable logic implementations of DSP as well as DSP intellectual property were also hot topics, especially at the recently concluded GSPx conference. Xilinx announced version 6.3i of their System Generator for DSP aimed at easing DSP designs into their Virtex-4 Platform FPGAs. Release here . And competitor Altera introduced version 2.2 of its DSP Builder development tool. Supporting Altera's DSP MegaCore® intellectual property (IP) portfolio, the new version also supports MATLAB 7 and Simulink 6 software packages included in The MathWorks Release 14. Release here .

On the IP front, RF Engines Limited demonstrated their industry leading Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) cores at GSPx . Release here . Lattice Semiconductor Corporation and its IP partner, CAST Incorporated announced intellectual property (IP) support for the new LatticeECP-DSP™ ('EConomy Plus DSP') and LatticeEC™ ('EConomy') FPGA device families. Release here . And StarCore announced the new StarCore SC2200 and SC2400 synthesizable digital signal processor (DSP) cores .

With respect to Zigbee , here are some of the news highlights:

CATC , a leader in protocol analysis, enhanced their PCI Express family of products, the PE Trainer EML, and Finisar announced the availability of a 16-bit bus analyzer pod for its RX-252 analyzer. The company also specializes heavily in protocol analysis tools. Release here and here .
