Dear ACM Member, Welcome to the May edition of ACM MemberNet. The Portal, ACM's reliable and fast-growing resource for computing literature, is getting a makeover. Currently in beta version, the redesigned Portal will offer many improvements, in searching, visual clarity, and user help tips. Read all about it in this issue. We highlight the activities of some of our most active Special Interest Groups (SIGs): --This year's Federated Computing Research Conference (FCRC) promises to be the biggest gathering of SIGs ever, with new activities and events such as special student programs and the inclusion of the ACM Awards Banquet and Turing Award Lecture. --The SIGGRAPH conference turns 30 this year. See what makes this "The world's largest marketplace of computer graphics and interactive techniques." --A new SIG is forming to address the needs of Information Technology Education: SIGITE. --IS '02, a new model curriculum and set of guidelines for undergraduate Information Systems education, has been approved and appears in the Winter 2003 issue of ACM SIGMIS Data Base. --CHI '03 explored the "new horizons" of communication, learning, and emotion in the digital world at an issue-rich conference in April. We interview the coach of the winning programming team at ICPC. And we remember three major contributors to computing: Anita Borg, Edgar Codd, and Rob Kling. As always, we welcome your comments about the content and format of MemberNet. Please email the editor at mn-editor@acm.org.
